The chair system Glyph, designed by the Berlin design duo Geckeler Michels, consists of a shaped wooden bowl of ash veneer, which tests the limits of 3D-formability of usual shaped wood veneers. The circulating soft edge of the seat enables a generous action radius of 180° and the reduced material thickness creates a comfortable spring effect. Ergonomic seating and minimal appearance as well the largest possible variability are central to the Glyph design. As a revolving chair, the Glyph is optimally-suited for the workplace with or without wheels, looking good both in the home and in the architecture office. With the also available four-legged frame of powder-coated aluminium, instead of classic steel tube, the chair is unusually lightweight despite the slightly larger tube diameter. As a modular system, the chair can be used in various ways in the office and at home. The applications of the chair family – as office chair, visitor‘s chair, conference chair as well canteen chair – are many.
