The founding of the company L&Z and the development of the Sinus Trestle were inseparable. The intriguing disparity between minimal production effort and maximal performance of a paperclip inspired the industrial designer Daniel Lorch to develop the Sinus Trestle in early 2008. After testing several prototypes, a limited studio edition was produced.

Aidin Zimmermann recognised the product‘s potential, and encouraged Daniel Lorch to finalise the trestles for joint production. The Sinus Trestle is named after the curve, which it resembles. The company L&Z was founded in Berlin at the end of 2010 and with private start-up capital the first industrially produced trestles were built.
In parallel, the mobile pedestal Ed was developed and added to the product range in 2013. The aim is to develop a comprehensive collection, which responds to the changing conditions of living and working, in cooperation with both leading and young designers. This focus serves to position L&Z as a brand in the premium segment on a long-term basis. All of the products are manufactured in Germany.
